Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Our world of work is becoming increasingly more complex because of issues related to work-life balance, safety and threats of violence, diversity and changing demographics, alcohol and drug abuse, and concerns about job stability. An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a worksite-based program designed to assist employees in identifying and resolving personal concerns that may be adversely affecting their job performance AND to assist the employer in addressing both general and specific productivity issues. For every $1 invested in an EAP, a company can save up to $16 per employee annually – in increased production, decreased absenteeism, fewer workplace incidents, decreased health insurance costs and fewer accidents, among other things. The Behavioral Medicine Network (BMN) has been in the business of providing EAP services since 1994 and has offices located in Lexington (central office), Louisville, Frankfort, Berea and London, Kentucky. Services provided by licensed, experienced counselors and therapists are available weekdays, evenings and Saturdays. Emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Services include the following:
Confidential, short-term counseling for the problems that distract and overwhelm everyone at times. Problems may include marital problems, relationship issues, financial stresses, legal issues, addictions, parenting, elder care, job stress, work performance problems. Appointments are available in the evening and on Saturdays.
Immediate assistance with employees whose performance or behavior in the workplace indicates a counseling appointment with our EAP as a condition of employment. Includes training for Human Resource professionals and supervisors to identify troubled employees whose performance may be impaired by mental health, substance abuse problems or other factors and to get appropriate help outside the work place. Assistance is also available to leadership teams on a wide range of issues that impact the workplace, such as mediation with troubled work groups, development of drug- free workplace policies and other human resource topics.
Immediate, effective, professional response to individual, group crisis or trauma in the workplace. Services may be provided at the work site or at a BMN office. Crisis issues may include employee suicide, sudden death, injuries and accidents, or other serious issues.
An extensive selection of training topics is available to the leadership team and workforce. Training is tailored to the organization’s specific needs and may focus on such issues as communication, team development, burnout, managing change, stress management, workplace harassment, reasonable suspicion substance testing, etc. BMN supplies EAP brochures, contact cards and posters; BMN trains the organization’s leaders about using the EAP; and BMN provides regular utilization reports. All communications with the employer are guided by appropriate state and Federal laws, including but not limited to HIPAA
